Financing Information
The first step we suggest buyers to take, is to get pre-approved for your mortgage before you even start looking at homes. It's nothing personal, but in today's real estate market, most listing agents won't even present an offer or show a home, unless the prospective buyer has been pre-approved or can verify funds. A pre-approval is actually a "dry run" of the loan application process which is non-binding to the lender, but does give a good indication to potential sellers of your general credit rating. It will include details about your credit, income, assets and debts to arrive an estimated mortgage that you can afford.
So, if you haven't done so already, here's where we suggest you start. If you'd like someone who is very easy to work with, and can offer expert advice, we recommend you call Carol Alger at MetLife Home Loans. She can usually pre-approve you right over the phone. A pre-approval from Carol and her staff are something you can count on, (unlike many "Internet lenders"), even if you decide to shop around more before deciding on a final mortgage. The whole process won't take long at all and it's FREE!
At MetLife Home Loans, you'll find expert advice for all your home financing including a speedy application process and an industry recognized commitment to customer service.

Why Get Pre-Qualified?
1. Pre-qualification acts as a dry run of the loan application process. The mortgage lender will use details you provide about your credit, income, assets and debts to arrive at an estimate of how much mortgage you can afford. The whole process may take only minutes or a few hours at most, and is free.
2. While a "pre-qual" is non-binding to the lender (because the information you provide has not been verified), it does serve as a good indication to potential sellers of your general creditworthiness.
3. These days most sellers will NOT accept an offer without at least a pre-approval letter, so if you are serious about buying this is the first step towards getting you in your new home.
