Ahhh... Scenic Syracuse, New York
Located at the crossroads of Central New York State, you'll discover the breathtaking jewel that we call HOME... Syracuse!
Surrounded by rolling hills, scenic parks and serene lakes and rivers, it's the perfect place to live, work and play. Situated as the seat of Onondaga County, it's the economic and educational hub of Central New York, a region with over a million inhabitants. Enterprising young adults are coming "Home to Syracuse", as we see many small businesses emerging. You'll find that it's easy to travel to many major eastern cities such as New York City, Boston, Toronto, Washing D.C. and Philadelphia, which are approximately five hours away, in various directions.
THE SCOOP: Syracuse was named after the original Syracuse, a city on the eastern coast of Sicily, Italy, with which it shares some similarities, including a formerly important salt industry and a neighboring town of Salina. Check out the Erie Canal, Syracuse's history and some of our "Firsts"!
Many famous people, such as Tom Cruise, Richard Gere, Annette Funicello, and the Baldwin family, come from our area. And graduates of Syracuse University include Vanessa Williams, Bob Costas, Jim Brown, Ted Koppel, Donovan McNabb, William Safire and Dick Clark.
